Dear Grandpa,
Thank you for all you’ve done for the family. I didn’t spend enough time with you, but even today, you are showing me how to be a better person! You will be missed dearly.
Today, according to Chinese culture, our grandpa’s spirit is taken back home and amongst our ancestors now. His body is cremated. But his teachings, his actions, his love and care for the family, will always be in our hearts. Every memory he’s left behind, I want to treasure. Like most Chinese grandparents, we rarely had lovey dovey chit chatty moments, we didn’t have enough time to know him and thoroughly understand him. I feel greedy, but I wish we had more time and I wish I put in more effort. Like grandma used to say, “有早知，冇黑衣” (if one can foresee the future, there will be no beggars). No one can turn back time.
